Opera Glass entertains

Summer Serenade

Favourites from opera & musicals with the OPERA GLASS QUARTET

7.30 pm Tuesday 30th June 2009 at United Reformed Church, The Strand, Dawlish

Monet: Bazille et Camille We had the great good fortune of persuading Claire Powell the international mezzo soprano to join the cream of OperaGlass for this concert. This delightful lady, who has sung with tenors such as Placido Domingo and Jose Carerras thrilled us in the Dawlish Festival with such arias as Softly Awakes my Heart from Samson and Delilah!

Talented Joyce Clarke played the best piano in Dawlish and the programme also included the Pearl Fishers sung superbly by Chris Hunt and Roderick Hunt, and Janet Macdonald singing a Mozart duet with Claire. With ensembles and arias from Mozart operas, Bizet, and such musicals as Kismet and Porgi and Bess, and even a Russian bass aria, this was an evening not to be missed!

"Thank you very much for a memorable musical evening ….we want more special evenings like this" C Stradwick

"The singers possessed powerful operatic voices and at times almost made the windows rattle, although there were certainly quieter moments as well…...... It was an evening to delight one’s musical senses!" David Lee (after our Exmouth performance)
